Parthenocissus veitchii is a striking ornamental vine due to it's brilliant autumn colour. It is a favourite of many gardeners as it covers bare walls in just a season. It's dark green foliage turns deep redish purple in September before it falls off at the end of October. Parthenocissus clings to the surface by adhesive pads rather than harmful penetrating roots, it will not harm the masonry but will keep a building cooler by shading the wall surface during the summer, saving money on air conditioning.
